The Namibian Natural Bodybuilders Union (NAMNBU) is inviting natural bodybuilders interested in participating in the upcoming South African Natural Bodybuilding Competition to be held in Cape Town on the 7th and 8th of October 2011.
The union said natural bodybuilders can register and utilize the opportunity extended to them by the South African Natural Bodybuilders Association. NAMNBU aims to promote Natural bodybuilding without the use of illegal substances and the promotion of bodybuilding as a sport amongst the youth. Venancius Rukero, the Chairman of NAMNBU told Informanté that “Bodybuilding is an individual sport, thus it’s not very popular in Namibia. The union is currently active in only four regions in the country, i.e. Khomas, Erongo, Oshana and the South.
“NAMNBU is not as yet affiliated with the Namibia Sports Commission, therefore the union is not fully recognized and this hampers the union from lobbying for funds from corporate companies”, Rukero said.
The closing date for registration is Wednesday 21st September 2011, and the selection process will be based on a first come, first serve basis. Only ten Namibian bodybuilders will be afforded the opportunity to fly the Namibian flag.
The registration and the weighing will be conducted on the 7th October in the afternoon, while the pre-judging, drug testing and main event will take place at the Paarl Town Hall in Cape Town on the 8th of October. \
